Cardboard Conveying

CFW designs and makes lean phase pneumatic conveying systems for various materials, including paper and cardboard. Both positive pressure and negative pressure (vacuum) systems can be supplied. CFW equipment is made to be durable and economical.

In cardboard production processes, layers of paper are combined into continuous strips of cardboard that are automatically cut. During cutting, bits of edge trim waste are left on or near the line. They must be quickly removed with conveyor belts, screw conveyors or aspirated into a pneumatic conveying system and separated out with a cyclone separator for baling or other uses. The air used in pneumatic conveying is filtered. Printing companies, paper and cardboard producers, packagers and recyclers all need systems for conveying cardboard or cardboard trim.

Pneumatic conveying offers simpler and more effective dust collection. This is because the dust collection system can be integrated into the conveying system. The dust is then separated by being filtered out in a baghouse, or by a cyclone.

The ductwork design for waste extraction systems needs to be particularly rigorous and will influence fan selection and sizing. Airflow laws, the required velocity for entrainment, wear, operating costs and space must all be considered.

The components we offer include shroudless (i.e. open) radial-blade centrifugal fans for material handling applications. Impeller models B and C are designed especially for fibrous and stringy materials such as paper. This is a self-cleaning design, preventing material build-up so as to minimise maintenance costs. These paddle-type fans are the basis for cutter fans in which the impeller blades are fitted with sharpened steel for cutting trim. Manufactured from heavy-gauge steel plate, the impellers can be used even in demanding conditions. A wide range of accessories and options is available, such as variable-speed drives or abrasion resistance treatments for increased fan life.

Conveying systems and fans can also be tailored to the requirements of the particular customer.
