Aquaculture Aeration

CFW provides fans for the aeration needed in aquaculture applications such as abalone farms and fish farms. The lateral channel blowers that are generally chosen for this application are quiet, compact and economical. We offer in-house spare parts and repairs.

aquaculture

Most aquaculture problems are caused by poor water quality. Many of these can be solved by aerating the water so as to provide enough oxygen. Oxygen availability is a key constraint in both traditional and the more advanced recirculating aquaculture systems. Poor oxygenation leads to low feed conversion ratios (and thus growth) and higher mortality rates.

Aeration works by bringing as much water as possible into contact with air. By creating the maximum possible surface area and ensuring long contact times, aerators increase the amount of oxygen transfer that naturally occurs between water and air. Aspirator aerators accomplish this by injecting small bubbles into the water.

Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important as prices rise. This has led to greater interest in reliable aeration systems that use the minimum amount of energy.

Lateral channel blowers (also known as side channel blowers, ring blowers) are typically used because greater pressures or vacuums are needed than centrifugal blowers can produce.

This technology offers numerous advantages:

  • The blowers are highly efficient in comparison to conventional compressors. Energy consumpsiton can be as much as eight times lower.
  • Low-noise.
  • Compactness.
  • Easy installation.
  • Pulse- and oil-free airstreams.
  • Pressures as high as 750 mbar.
  • Low capital cost when considering the maintenance of an air compressor.
  • High manufacturing standards. The product is made in accordance with the following directives: Machinery Directive CE98/37, EMC Directive CE89/336, Low Voltage Directive CE73/23.
